This year sees the St. Helen’s Balconiers celebrate the 50th anniversary of Glamorgan’s second County Championship title. This achievement was all the more notable because they finished the season undefeated – a rare achievement and the first time this had happened since 1930. To mark the anniversary, the Balconiers are hosting a celebration lunch hosted by Dr Andrew Hignell at The Towers Hotel, Swansea Bay, on Friday 8th November 2019 (12 noon for 12.30).
“It will probably be the last opportunity for Glamorgan members to see these legendary cricketers of yesterday’s era all together as a group”.
Further details follow but please note the event is RSVP by Thursday 31st October 2019.

It is with great sadness that the St. Helen’s Balconiers report the passing of Malcolm Nash who died overnight 30/31st July 2019. (Born 9th May 1945).
Malcolm will be inextricably linked with the St. Helen’s Ground, Swansea and his unwitting part in the Sober’s world-record six sixes over in August 1968. However he gave much more to the world of cricket than this one event with over 600 matches for Glamorgan between 1966 and 1983, he took over 1,300 wickets. He was proud of his batting with two first-class centuries including his highest score of 130 against Surrey which included a century before lunch (off 61 balls in 76 minutes). He also scored what is still (and will always be) the fastest century in the Benson and Hedges Cup competition (in 63 minutes, off 53 balls, against Hampshire).
Apologies to all who have missed our presence on the internet, we have had some issues with the maintenance of the site which have taken some ingenuity to resolve.
Having spent sometime resolving these issues means that we have some items to update. Hopefully this can be completed soon (by the 27th July 2019).
It is with great sadness that we report the sad passing of two stalwart supporters of the Balconiers. Mr G.H.H. Davies [Gerald Davies] C.Eng., C.En.,MICE, MCIHT, Head of Quality Assurance and Compliance at Alan Griffiths [Contractors] Ltd.
Gerald was a loyal and true friend of Glamorgan C CC and the Balconiers. He was the dedicated link between Mr Alun Griffiths and the Balconiers responsible for arranging a long and fruitful sponsorship which was mutually rewarding for both parties. His funeral will take place at Three Crosses, Swansea Capel y Crwys on Wednesday February 20th 2019 at 2.30pm where all are welcome.
Secondly we have been informed of the sad loss of Mr Tom Douglas who was a faithful member of the Balconiers for many years, He enjoyed the Daffodil Cricket tours run by the Balconiers and was a loyal Glamorgan CCC supporter. His funeral service will be held at Thornhill Crematorium on Friday February 22nd 2019 at 10.00 am
The Balconiers extend sincere condolence to the family and friends of both men. May they RIP
